Overview

As this week, the world can breathe a collective sigh of relief in knowing that the iPad 2 is coming our way. Less than a year after the release of the original, the second-generation device is set to hit American stores on March 11th. A much-anticipated sequel from Apple, the iPad 2 is described as being “ a thinner, faster and lighter version of its popular tablet computer that will sell at the same prices as the original models (Helft, New York Times)”. Since the original, improvements have been made to maintain Apple’s lead against rival designs from companies like Samsung, Dell and Motorola, but according to Steve Jobs, no unexpected changes were made. That is to say, the iPad 2 will still serve as “a platform for audio-visual media including books, periodicals, movies, music, games and web content whose size and weight falls between contemporary smartphones and laptop computers (wikipedia)”; but it will be better. Not to mention, this version will be available in both black and white.
